Metallic Shimmer and Retro Glam 9

Decorating Den Interiors Updates a South Fulton Home

When a busy South Fulton professional wanted to update his home to reflect his lifestyle, he called Kimberly Ormsby of Decorating Den Interiors of Atlanta, who is based in the area.  After meeting with the client and touring his traditional home, Ormsby learned he wanted to add a wow factor, while still honoring the home’s traditional vibe.

The home was painted in a two tone grey and white throughout, including painting the kitchen cabinets from the original oak to a soothing grey that ties everything together.  The tray ceilings in the 22-foot foyer and the dining room were painted in a dramatic silver metallic faux finish that shimmers in the evenings.  Ormsby and her team incorporated mixed metals and lots of textures to give the space new life.  The addition of dramatic light fixtures in the foyer, formal living room, dining room and kitchen were used to create the jewelry for the home.

Dining room – This dramatic chandelier and sconces highlighted by micro metal chains are the crown pieces in the dining room, which is accented by a tray painted in silver metallic paint in a faux finish.  Added dimmers on the fixtures create the perfect ambiance for dining, whether for two or a crowd!

Kitchen – The centerpiece of the kitchen’s multi-tiered ceiling is this retro-styled light fixture with an explosion of metal spokes and exposed bulbs. Matching scones add the flair and drama the home owner was looking for.  The newly repainted cabinetry with black appliances give that added pop!

Living room – Glamorous comfort in neutrals with shimmers of gold all over the room.  This living room is the perfect place to sit and have a pre-dinner drink with friends.  Centered by two floor to ceiling mirrors, this room is full of texture with a leather rug, hide accessory boxes, wood branches and a mirco-chain link chandelier that demands full attention as you enter into the home.

Family room – The family room is an eclectic mix of modern and traditional, with tone on tone neutrals with texture.   The inviting sectional is more than comfortable enough for movie watching or a quick nap!  The eye is drawn around the room with the ‘movement’ in the accessories, from the artwork to the wave panels behind the TV, to the rug and the pleats on the mirror.  The snakeskin finish on the cocktail table takes center stage.
