LaTonya Farracee Rainey Gillespie of College Park, Georgia, and Murvin Matthew Johnson, Jr., of Atlanta, married on the 24th day of September at Millennium Gates Museum in Atlantic Station. Rev. D’Vante Parks officiated the ceremony for this couple of 13 years. An elegant reception was held at Mason Murer Museum immediately after the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Gwendolyn Rainey (former South Fulton Mayor candidate) and Barry Gillespie, an Atlanta native. The groom is the son of Regina and Murvin Johnson, Sr., also Atlanta natives. Standing beside them at the altar in support of this long-awaited union were their siblings and close friends.
LaTonya and Murvin are true high school sweethearts, whose love for each other has grown from a teenage romance to an adult marriage. Meeting on a field trip at the Fernbank Museum while attending different middle schools in South Fulton County, these two love birds ended up at Westlake High School in Fulton County back in 2002, when neither of them knew they would grow old together and become one. Murvin was a talented football player and LaTonya a science-geared basketball player and cheerleader. Both being highly skilled academically and athletically, they decided to attend colleges in different states. As they went their separate ways for college, creating a long-distance relationship, their love for one another grew stronger. With only holiday visitation, spring break and summer vacations together, the two built an everlasting union based on love, trust, respect and friendship.
The bride graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry and works as a General Associate Dentist in Forest Park. The groom graduated from West Virginia University and works as a Lead Associate at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. This young couple is destined to do big things and will soon welcome a new addition to their union. After 10 days of vacationing in Bora Bora, Tahiti, on their honeymoon, the couple is planning on moving to the suburbs to raise their growing family. Stay tuned for more love to come from Mr. and Mrs. Johnson!
