Think. Speak. Become.
Words have power. This statement is often underestimated by many, but the truth of the matter is words really do have power.
I am a firm believer that you will have whatever you say you will, whether it be good, bad, ugly or indifferent. This is why I choose my words very carefully. The more I think about it, the more I know that the way we perceive things has a lot to do with what we ultimately say. The Bible teaches that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And nothing can be in your heart without also being in your mind. This being the case, it may not be a bad idea to take a closer look at the way in which we conceptualize things. Does the glass look half-empty or is it half-full? Is it partly cloudy outside or is it, rather, partly sunny? Get it?
These ideas remind me of a childhood poem I remember being taught by my elementary school’s librarian. Penned by Walter D. Wintle and entitled, Thinking (also known as The Man Who Thinks He Can), the first and last stanzas go something like this:
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost a certain – you won’t.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can!
So again, my friends, words have power. I want to challenge you to see the bright side of every situation and think good thoughts, regardless of how bleak things may seem. Then I want you to consider speaking words of life to yourself in whatever situation you may be facing. Finally, I encourage you to be confident in knowing that you will become whatever you think and say. That’s right: Think. Speak. Become.
Excited about your destiny, I am,
