Citizen of the Month:  Dr. Gloria Clarke

Dr. Gloria Clarke is one of the most respected and admired dentists in Atlanta. Recently inducted into the prestigious Hinman Dental Society, the International College of Dentists and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry since 1985, Dr. Clarke continues to deliver outstanding dental services to her patients at Greenbriar Dental Care. The practice originally opened in 1983, and she acquired it in 2000.

Under Dr. Clarke’s leadership, the goal at Greenbriar Dental Care is to make every patient’s experience a pleasant one! Since purchasing the practice, Dr. Clarke has remained focused on continuing education, staff development and investing in the latest technology to deliver high-quality dentistry. She recently completed a mini-residency in implant dentistry and also invests in training her team members. Dr. Clarke is equally passionate about giving back to the community. She just celebrated the fifth anniversary of Atlanta’s Dental Angels, a charity event that she sponsors annually at Greenbriar Dental Care. More than 500 people received dental treatments during this day of free dentistry. Dr. Clarke organizes an army of volunteer dental professionals to support this amazing day of giving back. Dr. Clarke has become well known for the annual event, and lines start forming in the early morning hours. In addition, she also volunteers monthly at Ben Masell Dental Clinic, Atlanta’s free dental clinic.

A native of New York, New York, Dr. Clarke graduated from Hofstra University in 1979 and obtained her dental degree from Howard University in 1983. She completed a two-year residency in general dentistry at Columbia University/Harlem Hospital where she was chief resident and was retained as a staff-attending dentist while in private practice in New York. She is also a member of the National Dental Association and American Dental Association.

“Citizen of the Month” features a South Fulton resident who continually gives of his/her time, talent and treasures to make our community, and ultimately the world in which we live, a better place. Could you be next?
