The 2017 Summer FUN List 1

Summer vacation is finally here! Whether you have a family of thrill seekers wanting to try the new 4D Justice League: Battle for Metropolis ride at Six Flags Over Georgia or a family full of kids that can’t wait to visit the Splash Pad at Duncan Park, our city has a lot to offer your family this summer. While this list comprises a fraction of the events happening around town, these activities are sure to solve any summer boredom issues. Enjoy trying them out!

  • Visit or volunteer at a Nature Center.
  • Bake cookies and make your own ice cream for homemade ice cream sandwiches.
  • Visit state parks and go geocaching.
  • Attend a monthly block party in East Point, hosted by City Reach Church.
  • Join the Atlanta Public Library’s summer reading program.
  • Grab an Ashley Bryan book and visit the High Museum to see it come alive.
  • Catch one of the Dancing Granny shows touring from the Alliance Theatre.
  • Spend a day in the Serenbe Community in Chattahoochee Hills.
  • Grab an Atlanta City Pass and be a tourist for a day!
  • Check out the new dinosaur exhibit or water sport enhancements at Stone Mountain Park.
  • Visit a craft store and help your kids build an old-fashioned lemonade stand.
  • Start a farmer’s market tour around the city and don’t forget the Fresh Marta Market, 
 Fairburn Farmers Market and East Point Market.
  • Go berry picking.
  • Have a water balloon fight with your kids.
  • Go on an Atlanta Movie Tour.
  • Teach your children how to make your favorite childhood meal.
  • Make sidewalk chalk art as a family.
  • Create paper boats and race them in a kiddie pool.
  • Attend a Saturday morning $2 Michaels Kid’s Club crafting activity.
  • Take a family trip to the Urban Garden in East Point.
  • Take the family to Game-X downtown (across from the Aquarium).
