I am such an early bird. I learned many years ago that how you begin your day can have a great impact on your attitude and accomplishments throughout the entire day. Successful individuals understand that creating morning rituals can help them reach their daily goals on a consistent basis. They truly embrace discipline and routine. In the early hours of the day, it is vitally important to have “self-care.” I tell my clients that self-care is divine care. Your mornings can really be a sacred time that you can have by yourself before the demands of life take over. You may have to wake up 30 minutes to an hour earlier, but it is well worth it. Do not check text messages, emails or social media, rather be committed and intentional about how you spend the first hour of your day and your personal care. Consider taking this time to exercise, pray, meditate, journal write or repeat affirming thoughts, all of which will prepare you for optimum success.
Tip 1: Exercise & Get Moving
Keep your workout gear and tennis shoes at the foot of your bed. As soon as your alarm goes off, get dressed and go! Get moving! Morning exercise invigorates your body. If you can’t get to the gym, at least take time to stretch, do a few jumping jacks or take a jog or brisk walk around your neighborhood.
Tip 2: Morning Prayer & Meditation
This is my absolute favorite tip. It is spiritually rewarding and a key to manifesting your dreams and success. In the mornings, schedule time (this may be 60 seconds, 5 minutes, or 20 minutes) to just focus your thoughts on one thing. When you get into a habit of meditating and listening within, you will birth brilliant ideas. Find a place in your home, a sweet spot, where you can get quiet and focus.
Tip 3: Create an Accomplishments List
This is a daily, to-do list, which will include both big and small tasks that you need to accomplish throughout the day. Get into a habit of writing this list at the onset of your morning. This process will help you frame your day, and writing it down is a key component to successful planning and execution.
