Presented by Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter

The Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter (GMAC) of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, led by President Shondria Covington, hosted its third biennial debutante cotillion on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The theme “Legacies of Grandeur: Cultivating the Refinement of Womanhood” was interwoven throughout the year-long leadership program that provided 21 debutantes with social, service and critical life skills. The goal of the experience was to cultivate responsible leaders, sustainable friendships and cultural experiences.

GMAC’s one-of-a-kind Leadership Institute focused on topics such as personal branding, etiquette and father-daughter relationships, while also incorporating a weekend retreat focused on college preparation and a mother-daughter luncheon honoring women in leadership. Another unique feature of the program was the Escort Leadership Program which provided workshops and interactive activities for the 21 high school young men who participated as escorts to the debutantes.

The Leadership Program and Debutante Cotillion was co-chaired by Li Black (Escort Leadership Program), Andrea Lewis (Cotillion), Joy White (Fundraising), Darlene Whittington (Debutante Leadership Institute) and Yolanda Wimberly (Escort Leadership Program). The Mistress of Ceremony for the cotillion was CBS46 television personality Karyn Greer.
